Hold on, what’s a micro-wedding?
A micro wedding is any ceremony and/or reception with less than 50 total guests. With the social distancing restrictions brought on by COVID, couples are trimming their guest-count and enjoying a small and intimate party. Couples often combine an elopement and a reception to create their micro-wedding format, but you have the option to do both with a smaller party. How to have live-music for a micro-wedding
When it comes to music for small and intimate weddings solo, duos, and trios are ideal. For the ceremony we recommend solo guitar, harp, or any number of instrumental duos. If you’re having music for cocktails and dinner these musicians can absolutely play light background music. However, this shouldn’t just be bland elevator music, the musicians impact will be even greater with such a small number of guests. We suggest unique and customized music which you find most meaningful.
How does Music Dept Choose Musicians for a Micro-Wedding?
Extremely carefully! If you have fewer than 50 guests the interaction with the musicians is going to be much more intimate than in a 200+ guest wedding. While we only work with musicians who have great vibes and professionalism, this goes double for micro-weddings. There is really nowhere to hide, musically or energetically. No jaded players or hired -guns. No checking the cell-phone during the vows! These players are ready to be an integral and fully invested member of your select wedding party.

All of our musicians are super-sensitive to volume concerns, but this goes double for micro-weddings. The musicians we work with for these celebrations are almost like mini-event planners. Conscientious and then some :-)

Duos and Trios are not as well suited for dance-music as a 4-5 piece band or DJ. However, in a smaller space with a lower headcount it is totally possible to get people up and moving to even a solo musician or duo. It all depends on the mood you want to create.
