At Music Dept we are passionate about providing professional sound and lighting services for our clients. This service can be part of a live music booking, but we are also happy to offer it as a stand-alone service.
Our role in the AV space is to bridge the gap between the DIY party throwers and top-tier AV companies. We are so impressed by the capabilities of major AV companies, and when it comes to full-on production there is no substitute for a large crew and warehouse full of equipment.
But, if you just need a few speakers, lights, projector, and microphones then we are the company for you. We have the flexibility of equipment and staffing to work your smaller event and make sure everyone has a great time. Musicians and bandleaders have all the essential skills and equipment needed for a basic AV jobs, and we are ready to give the time and attention to detail that your event demands.
We have powered speakers from QSC, Bose, and Roland. These can be used as monitors or crowd-facing mains. We also have battery powered speakers. It is also possible for us to place speakers very far apart and transit the signal wirelessly as opposed to running cable across the space.
We have both wireless and wired mics. Our preferred brand is Shure. We have 4-channels of wireless. Handheld wireless mics, lavalier clip mics, and instrument connections. We also always bring wired mics as a backup for emergencies.
With Spotify and the other streaming platforms it has never been easier for our clients to create highly personalized playlists. While its a lot of fun to make the playlist, hauling equipment and setting it up correctly is no way to spend your party! We are happy to bring our equipment and playback music from a playlist that you create.

How we can solve your event problems
We will download your playlist to a device so its not relying on WIFI and bring the right speakers for the space. If access to power is not available we have battery powered speakers. Our coordinators can collaborate on the timeline and the tech can play specific songs at any key moments.
We have projectors, portable screens, and the audio connections needed for a great video presentation.
Yes, we can provide the vendor insurance that your venue requires. Sometimes bringing in the smallest thing to an event can become such a big deal, we make sure it’s as simple as possible for our clients.
We know the tech details can get lost in the booking process. Even if you booked your performer elsewhere Music Dept is glad to come in and bridge the gap with the right equipment or even instruments like keyboard or drums(aka backline.)
